Foto Friday: Childhood Memory

Each “Foto Friday” 2dopesistahs pay homage to our love of Pinterest by remixing one of the posts we saw there, the “30 Day Photo Challenge,” originally posted on the Little Bennet blog. We are presenting our photographs so that we can explore the power of the camera and how we see the world.

Day 10: Childhood Memory

Da Realist 1: Bear

Bear, Still holding it down after all these years.

Bear, Still holding it down after all these years.

As I child, I loved stuffed animals. I suppose a lot of girls do. Over the years, I collected quite a few. I became very attached to some of them, usually based on my feelings about the person who gave it to me. Out of the extended stuffed animal family that once resided on my bed, I only have one left. My mother gave me this teddy bear for Christmas when I was ten years old, and I named him, simply, “Bear.” He kept me company when I was lonely and has traveled all over the South and Midwest with me. Even with all that moving around, I think Bear looks pretty good.

Da Hype 1: Monchichi

I, too, have a teddy bear as my most memorable childhood item. There is a narrative

that my mother tells about me loving Monchichi so much that I was ready to leave a slumber party in the 1st Grade because the kids were throwing my Monchichi around. She said that I was hot when she came to pick me up. Monchichi is about 34 years old and she has been with me everywhere.
